APC crises: Tambuwal dumps APC for PDP
Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State on Wednesday formally declared his defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP).
The governor addressing his army of supporters gathered at the Government House, Sokoto, who stormed the Government House to declare their sustained support for him, unveiled his defection from APC to PDP, adding that decision is in search of political freedom.
Tambuwal’s defection came after weeks of speculation that Governor Tambuwal was planning to dump the ruling party; as well as a day after he called on Nigerians to reject what he described as “prison-yard democracy”.
Tambuwal, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, is the third APC governor to exit the party after his Benue and Kwara state counterparts, Samuel Ortom and Abdulfatah Ahmed joined the PDP.
