Barcelona delays Jordi Alba’s contract talks
Barcelona will delay offering a new contract to defender Jordi Alba until the summer despite the player’s wishes, say Diario Sport.
The 29-year-old wants to commit his long-term future to the club but the Catalan giants are said to be delaying the offer for economic purposes.
The left-back’s current deal at the Camp Nou expires in June 2020 and possesses a €150m release clause but he wants an improved contract.
Alba has played more than 250 matches for the Blaugrana after his 2012 move from Valencia with his last renewal penned in 2015.
The defender has been linked with moves to Manchester United and Juventus by media reports, while he has lost his place in the Spain national squad under Luis Enrique.
