Zambian forward seeks revenge against Super Falcons—- Favour Itua
Shepolopolo of Zambia forward Mary Mwakapila seeks revenge against the Super Falcons of Nigeria tomorrow in the second group B match, promising that her team will fight to the end.
Mwakapila made this known at the Pre match press conference room of the Cape Coast Stadium.
” In 2014 they beat us 6 nil, and for that it made me to come out strong. So this time around, I don’t want to loose to Nigeria, I want to fight with the team and prove that we are also players that deserve to be the best like they are. We play the same football like they, for them being champions for eight times, that doesn’t mean they can’t lose any game. It’s played on the pitch for 90 minutes, I’m ready to face any team.”
The Green Buffalos player spoke of the quality in the Nigeria team as she mentioned Ordega, Oshoala and Oparanozie but they are not ready to give out 3 points.
“I want to talk about Ordega, Oshoala and Oparanozie, I think Nigeria has got quite a strong striking force looking at Oshoala, she’s got speed also I have my own strength, I feel it will be a tough game but I don’t think we are ready to give out the three points. We really want to change the table also, we want to become champions like them, feel how it is to be champions and for that reason it’s the drive in me that’s going to make our team fight up till the end.”
The Super Falcons humiliated the Shepolopolo of Zambia at the 2014 AWC six goals to nil, a match where Ngozi Okobi, Osinachi Ohale, Asisat Oshoala, Desire Oparanozie and Pepertua Nkwocha were on the score sheet. Ngozi Ebere was the woman of the match that day.
The Zambians will be banking on their togetherness as all but one of the players play in the Zambian league.
The much anticipated match will go down tomorrow at the Cape Coast Stadium 4:30pm Local time.
