Akunyili: Son narrates how father was attacked, killed, survivor hospitalised
The son of the murdered widower Chike Akunyili has narrated how his father was killed by the yet-to-be-identified persons on Monday evening.
Chike was returning from an even where he went to attend a lecture at the University of Nigeria, Nsuka, in honor of his late wife and former Minister Dora.
According to Obummneme, his father was shot in the face by gunmen who opened fire on his vehicle at Nkpo, Anambra.
The Police Command in Anambra State, where the incident happened, has vowed to unravel the brains behind the murder.
“His driver and a Police officer assigned to him also died in the shooting. A cousin survived and is being treated in hospital,” Obumneme told the BBC Igbo Service.
IPOB, the militant secessionist group rocking the southeast denied killing the medical doctor.
