Anambra 2021: Nigeria Police assures of tight security arrangement
The Nigeria Police on Friday assured the people of Anambra State that tight security arrangement has been put in place to guarantee their safety to vote in the Saturday, November 6 governorship election in the state.
The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Force Headquarters, Abuja, Commissioner of Police Frank Mba, declared on Friday in Awak that the security arrangement for the governorship election in the state on Saturday is intact. CP Mba maintained that the Police have sufficient officers on ground, promising that the Police will be neutral in performing their duties during the electoral process.
CP Mba had stated inter alia: “The entire security arrangement that we have already put in place remains intact.
“Our men are fully on the ground. We made a pledge with the people of Anambra State, and that pledge is that we will remain politically neutral in the course of our duties in the state.
“We also pledged to provide a level playing field for all political actors to play out their political games and exercise their franchise without hindrance.”
CP Mba further promised residents of Anambra State that the police personnel will be “friendly and citizen-oriented” during the election.
Mba had stated, “We don’t want our presence to be a deterrent but a factor that would build confidence in citizens.”
The new DIG, Zaki Ahmed, deployed to Anambra State for the election had earlier assured the voters, political parties and their candidates that security system will be effective to guarantee their safety during the election.
He encouraged eligible voters in Anambra State to come out en mass and perform their civic duties peacefully, assuring them of their protection and safety.
The civil defence corps personnel are also in Anamrba State to provide additional security during the election.
