APC NEC: Why Buhari walks out as Oshiomhole survives removal
The Friday NEC meeting of the APC degenrated into a row right in the presence President Muhammadu Buhari thanks to the shouting match between the pro-Oshiomhole group and those who wanted the national chairman removed during the meeting at the APC secretariat in Abuja..
While Adams Oshiomhole got a vote of confidence and survived the plot, Buhari was angry with the rowdy party men, and he walked out on the council.
The police had to fire teargas to disperse the protesting mob.
It all escalated as the suspended Edo State chairman of the party, Anslem Ojezua, bulldozed his way into the meeting, and other chairmen threatened to walk out if the security agents prevented him from coming in.
All that drama took place right before the president.
Other suspended members, including the immediate past governors of Imo and Ogun states, Rochas Okorocha and Ibikunle Amosun remained suspended.
Tension had been mounting for the removal of Oshiomhole because of his oneupmanship in administering the party.
His protracted battle with Edo Gov Godwin Obaseki, others was feared as capable of destroying the party.
