APC PCC urges U.S. President, Biden, to ‘trash’ an open letter against Tinubu from Chimamanda
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) on Friday told President Joe Biden of the United States )US) to “trash” an open letter against the president-elect in Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, sent by a renowned writer, Chimamanda Adichie.
The APC PCC Director of Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, in a tweet on Friday, told President Biden to disregard the letter on receipt. The APC PCC told Biden that Chimamanda wrote fiction out of the pain of the defeat of her kinsman, Peter Obi, in the 2023 presidential election.
Bayo Onanuga in the tweet, wrote, “Dear President Joe Biden, please just trash the open letter by Chimamanda on Nigeria’s election once it gets to your desk. She wrote fiction, inspired by the monumental loss of her tribesman, Peter Obi.”
Chimamanda, in an open letter to President Joe Biden published in The Atlantic on Thursday, pointed out that the a spokesperson for the US Department of State had acknowledged the frustration expressed over the conduct of the 2023 general election and technical glitches in Nigeria. She noted that the envoy had anticipated the electoral process be a “competitive election” that “represents a new period for Nigerian politics and democracy.”
