Armed men launch fresh attack in Benue, kill 12, injure many
Armed men carried out a fresh attack on the Benue community, killing over 12 residents, including women and children. The gunmen had struck at Tiortyu in Tarka Local Government Area, Benue State, at night hours, leaving the people defenceless and helpless. Many residents who were fleeing the community for safety were shot as they flee, causing them to sustain injuries if they escaped death.
The injured were said to be receiving treatment at the NKST Christian Hospital in Uchi.
Youths from the community and the environs, on Tuesday, embarked on mass protest of the attack and killings. They were said to have blocked the Makurdi-Gboko-Calabar Road, obstructing traffic on the highway.
