Awujale of Ijebuland receives Emir of Kano in Ogun
The Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero on Wednesday was received by the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona GCON, in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
The visit is coming a few days after the Awujale’s 90th birthday and 64 years on the throne celebrations.
Recall that during the celebration, President Bola Tinubu conferred on him the title of the Grand Commander of the Order of Niger, GCON, the second highest title in Nigeria.
It was gathered that the visit also aimed at deepening the friendly ties that have long existed between the Awujale and the late Alhaji Ado Bayero, the Emir of Kano.

The Emir had earlier in a letter personally signed by him and dated May 19, 2024, titled, “Notification of our visit to Ijebu Ode Kingdom” noted that the purpose of the visit is to honour Oba Adetona on his birthday and to celebrate his notable achievements on the throne.
The letter reads, “We wish to pay our respects to His Majesty to strengthen the cordial relationship that has been in existence for several years between the Awujale of Ijebuland and our father, the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, of blessed memory.
“At the same time, we will seize the opportunity to felicitate His Majesty for attaining the age of 90 years, as well as being on the throne for 64 years.”
