Kwara customs records N10bn revenue from January to May 2024
The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Customs Service generated and remitted over N10 billion between January and May 2024.
Customs Area Comptroller Faith Ojeifo announced this achievement during a press conference at the command’s headquarters in Ilorin on Thursday.
Kwara Comptroller Ojeifo highlighted that this year’s revenue marks a significant improvement over the same period in 2023.
The command exceeded the previous year’s collection by over N2.885 billion, reflecting a 40.41% increase.
In addition to the financial performance, Ojeifo reported that the command recorded 21 seizures of various prohibited items during the same period.

They include 507 bags of foreign rice, one unit of used vehicles, 1,055 pieces of used tyres and 164 jerry cans of petrol, amounting to a total duty paid value of N35,416,140.
The command also donated relief materials to the Kwara State Ministry of Social Development to provide relief, comfort, support and to those who have been affected by specific crises or challenges.
“We are aware that the ministry is not a revenue-generating one, and only benefits from monthly allocations from the state government and that is why we are recognizing the tireless efforts of the ministry in serving the less privileged, vulnerable and the disabled in the society,” he stated.
