Bandits made fresh invasion of communities, kill 10, kidnap many in Kaduna
Bandits at the weekend made fresh invasion of some communities in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, Kaduna State, killing over 10 persons and kidnapping many.
The kidnapped victims were said to be mostly women and children.
The bandits were narrated to had earlier encountered had earlier been attacked by local vigilantes at Ungwan Bula, Unguwar Dafillo and Ijinga villages in Randagi district of Birnin-Gwari on their way back to their camps after operations in communities in Niger State. The bandits had kidnapped many people in the Niger operations, but passing through Birnin Gwari back to their camp, the local vigilante intercepted and engaged them in gun battle.
The bandits, thereafter, reinforced and stormed the communities in Kaduna on Saturday morning on counterattack, killing over 10, who were said to include six local vigilante members and four villagers.
Bandits were also said to obstruct Kaduna- Birnin-Gwari Road at 10.00am Saturday, forcing motorists to a halt. The bandits were said to be shooting sporadically at vehicles, making passengers flee into the bush, some with bullet wounds.
