Breaking: Security Forces Rescue Abducted Oyo Schoolchildren, Teachers in Successful Operation (Video)
All the pupils and teachers who were abducted in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have regained their freedom following a successful rescue operation by Nigerian security agencies.
The development was confirmed on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who announced the victims’ release in a post on his verified X account.
According to Onanuga, the rescue operation was carried out by security operatives, bringing an end to the ordeal of the kidnapped pupils and their teachers.
“All the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo have been rescued by our security agencies,” he wrote.
Although authorities have yet to disclose details of the rescue operation, including whether any suspects were arrested or if a ransom was paid, the announcement has been welcomed as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to tackle kidnapping and violent crimes across the country.
The abduction of schoolchildren has remained a major security concern in Nigeria, with both federal and state governments intensifying efforts to strengthen intelligence gathering, improve rapid response capabilities, and enhance the protection of schools under the Safe Schools Initiative.
Security agencies are expected to provide further details on the circumstances surrounding the rescue in the coming hours.
