Buhari appoints Ja’afaru as Prison boss
….. Uja Tor Uja as NCPC chief
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday approved the appointment of Ahmed Ja’afaru as the Controller-General of the Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS).
Until his appointment, Ja’afaru was an Assistant Controller -General of the NPS Headquarters.
According to a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Bassey Akpanyung, Ja’afaru replaces Dr. Peter Ezenwa Ekpendu, who retired from the NPS after the mandatory 35 years in service. The appointment took effect from May 17.
In related development President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mr. Uja Tor Uja, as the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC).

A statement issued by the Assistant Director (Press), Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mohammed T. K. Nakorji, said the appointment for a period of five years takes immediate effect.
Uja replaced the immediate past Executive Secretary of the Commission, John Kennedy-Opara, who was disengaged from service last week.
The statement reads: “Mr. Uja graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication from University of Lagos in 1981. “He obtained Master’s Degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies from University of Jos in 1987.
“Before his appointment, Mr. Uja was a Commissioner of Commerce and Industries, Hon. Commissioner of Information and Social Development, Benue State and Benue State PFN Chairman.”
