The Edo-born doctor, Dr. Vwaere Diaso, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday at the General Hospital in Odan, Lagos Island, after a lift she was riding in crashed while she was on the building’s tenth floor, National Daily report.

After spending six years at Babcock University, the doctor, Dr. Vwaere Diaso, was admitted last year. She had great aspirations and expectations. However, the terrible occurrence destroyed her hopes for a successful medical career and aspirations that she would be able to utilise her medical expertise to serve the whole community and society as a whole in the nation.

According to a friend of the deceased physician who went by the name Dr. Joy Aifuobhokhan, she was the most intelligent, altruistic, and joyful person she had ever encountered throughout her year of medical school.

Dr. Aifuobhokhan, a classmate of hers at the medical school who spoke with newsmen, said that she was her buddy and that they had become coworkers as well as friends after meeting there.

“I worked there from 2021 to 2022, and we whined vehemently about the lift,” she said. I was fortunate to be rescued in 2022 after being caught in the lift. Nearly all of the physicians were trapped in the lift. Since 2011, several physicians have started complaining about it.

She continued, adding that in addition to this, power had only been restored there for two hours, there was no running water, and when people complained, they were told they should not be complaining because the doctors’ quarters were not available during their own time.

When asked if a complaint had been made to the authority prior to the incident, she responded that they had written several letters to the Health Service Commission of Lagos State and that they had received no response. Instead, they claimed that the repairs were only made once, and before they knew what was happening, the lift would break down the following day, returning them to their previous state.

The Medical Guild and the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), she stated, were both aware of the unpleasant situation, but nothing had been done about it.

She described the deceased as being the brightest of the group and always joyful and smiling. While everyone was grumbling, Diaso would always smile and return to cater to the patients. Dr. Diaso was one of us who was excellent. She shouldn’t have to pay the price for the authority figure’s carelessness.

We discussed how she would begin working where I am now employed, and she expressed excitement about beginning her home job with us, the woman stated.
