Editor’s Take: Top 4 favorites to lift Confederation Cup
By Ediale Kingsley
The FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 will kick start in Moscow, Russia today. This tournament brings together the champions of the six confederations registered under FIFA. And these are the Editor’s ranking of teams that will contend for the cup.
Top 4:
1. Chile
2. Germany
3. Cameroon
4. Portugal
This is my list of top 4 favorites to lift the Confederation Cup. Chile is in shape and most of its players have been together for a long time now. This same squad has tasted glory together as a team. Aside all these very important points. You must also understand that these players have all indeed improved. And for three seasons now the worth values of Alexis Sanchez, and Arturo Vidal has seen tremendous growth.
Another great player in that team is Gary Model. The Chile side has chemistry and experience; 11 players have at least 50 caps and seven have been capped at least 90 times. This is why I am tipping them to win.
Germany would be without Toni Kroos, Thomas Muller, Jerome Boateng, Marco Reus, Mats Hummels, Mesut Ozil, Leroy Sane, Mario Gotze, Julian Weigl and Manuel Neuer. This is why I am picking them second to Chile. But Germany is not Nigeria or England. They have good players everywhere, like Brazil and these players they have featured are equally good.
Cameroon ahead of Portugal is only because the African team has strength and spirit to beat the underdog syndrome.
Then Portugal has Ronaldo. That’s all they have. So they are fourth favorite to claim the trophy.
