Rasheedat Ajibade delivered a stellar performance, scoring both goals to lead the Super Falcons of Nigeria to a decisive 2-0 victory over the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in an international friendly on Tuesday.

The match, played at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Ogun State, served as a crucial warm-up for Nigeria ahead of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco next month.

Ajibade, showcasing her excellent form, opened the scoring in the 28th minute from the penalty spot after earning the foul herself.

Nigeria asserted their dominance throughout the first half, with Ajibade, who recently left Atlético Madrid, consistently threatening the Cameroonian defense.

The Super Falcons doubled their lead just before halftime in the 43rd minute.

Omorinsola Babajide provided a perfectly timed pass into the box, which Ajibade clinically converted for her second goal of the game.

Cameroon emerged with more intent in the second half, pushing to reduce the deficit. However, Nigeria’s defense, anchored by Africa’s reigning Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, held firm.

The goalkeeper produced a remarkable save in added time to secure the clean sheet.

This victory further extends Nigeria’s historical dominance over Cameroon, marking their 15th win in 21 encounters between the two West African powerhouses.

The friendly, originally planned as a two-legged series, was reduced to a single match due to Cameroon’s delayed arrival.

The Super Falcons are utilizing this friendly to fine-tune their preparations for WAFCON 2025, where they are determined to reclaim the continental title in Morocco.
