Edo to present 925 athletes and officials, 20th NSF LOC says
Nine hundred and twenty-five athletes and officials will represent Edo at the 20th National Sports Festival (NSF) in Benin City, Project Manager of Team Edo, Anehita Emeya, has said.
Emeya who announced the figure at a news conference on Monday in Benin said it was made up of 689 athletes and 236 officials.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the festival tagged “Edo 2020” is holding from April 2 to April 14.
The team manager, who is also a member of the 20th NSF Local Organising Committee (LOC), said the athletes were ready for the games.
“Team Edo has been undergoing various form of trainings since, and the athletes will go into closed camping in the next few days.
“Team Edo has never stopped training, even with the postponements.
“We have been training. What we will be doing now is harmonisation. We are ready to host and win,’’ she said.
NAN reports that about 8,000 athletes from the 36 states and FCT are expected to participate in the festival.
The 20th NSF suffered several postponements owing to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
