Great grandma dies climbing pedestrian bridge on her way to naming great grandchild
An elderly woman who had waited to carry her grandchild died while climbing the Berger pedestrian bridge in Lagos on Monday—on her way to naming.
Her daughter was with her while she slumped as they crossed to the Lagos-Ibadan express axis of the area.
Passers-by initially stood aloof, watching the 70-something-year-old struggle for breath.
A medical doctor however chanced on the incident, and performed a CPR on the woman.
As there was no improvement, the on-lookers move close and sprinkle her with water to revive her.
She died later in a hospital, according to witnesses who offered to carry her there for treatment.
The daughter with her explained how the old woman rebuffed all pleas to stay back at home.
