Gunmen kidnap lawmaker in Anambra
The Police on Monday confirmed the kidnap of a lawmaker, Okechukwu Okoye, representing Aguata 2 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, by gunmen. The Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, was gathered to have on Monday revealed that the gunmen kidnapped the lawmaker representing Governor Charles Soludo’s country home on Sunday in Isuofia axis of Anambra State. The lawmaker was taken away to an unknown destination.
The PPRO disclosed that the Anambra State Police Command are on the trail of the kidnappers, and on search and rescue mission to secure the safe release of the lawmaker.
A viral video was said to reveal that the lawmaker’s vehicle fell into a drain system, where he was kidnapped.
Governor Charles Soludo had visited Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in the detention facility of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja. Since the visit, gunmen have intensified violent attacks in Anambra State.
Professor Soludo had relayed Kanu, IPOB leader, condemned the violence and senseless killings in the Southeast, wishing he had the opportunity to make a broadcast to address the situation.
