How Abolongo fleeing inmate was arrested in Iseyin
Operatives of Oyo State command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested one of the fleeing inmates unidentified gunmen broke out of the Abolongo correctional center Friday.
NSCDC made this disclosure on Monday, saying the inmate was arrested Sunday night.
The command noted that the inmate was recaptured at Kara Market, Oluwole area of Iseyin, and was handed over to the officers from Nigeria Correctional Service.
“The intelligence and investigation Department, after interrogating and profiling the suspect, took him to the correctional office at Agodi for confirmation.
“His picture was forwarded to Correctional office in Oyo. And later confirmed as one of the escapee.
“Thereafter, proper handing over was done at NSCDC State command Headquarters Agodi Ibadan”.
Over 800 inmates crammed into the prison escaped on Friday, but by Monday, more than 500 of them have been rearrested.
The National Daily reported notorious herder Iskilu Wakili, serial killer Sunday Shodipe, were among the fleeing prisoners.
