Jonathan in Dakar amidst reports of APC membership
Former President Goodluck Jonathan is in Darkar, Senegal, for the opening ceremony of a two-day sub-regional dialogue on sustaining democratic principles in West Africa.
Jonathan revealed his location in a tweet on Thursday, just as there are reports he has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress to pursue the presidency in next year’s election.
He tweeted, “Today, in Dakar, Senegal, at the opening ceremony of a two-day Sub-regional Dialogue on Sustaining Democratic Principles in West Africa, organised by the West African Elders Forum (WAEF)”.
“I joined other leaders and stakeholders in the sub-region to examine ways of deepening democracy, peaceful transfer of power, improving governance and addressing the issue of unconstitutional change of government in the sub-region”.
APC presidential nomination forms had been purchased for Jonathan last week by some groups. He has since denounced the move, saying the groups didn’t get his consent.
