Joy Ogunboye named soccer queens referee of week 13
Ondo based referee Joy Ogunboye has been named the Soccer Queens Nigeria Women Premier League Referee of week 13.
National Daily learnt that Ogunboye officiated in a game where both teams needed the maximum points to seek qualification in time for the Nigerian Women Premier League Super 4 Competition.
The experienced referee demonstrated her exceptional abilities to control the high profile game between two giants in Nigerian Women Football, Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens was said to be near perfect with her officiating at the Liberation Stadium, PortHacourt on Saturday evening.
National Daily gathered that the fair in complexion match official soared to the prestigious award at the expense of Kwara based Ali Bilikisu who was the Week 11 winner and Abuja based Maduko Augustina who officiated the game between Sure Babes FC and Confluence Queens on sunday evening in Ilorin.
The weekly award which is proudly sponsored by NFF 1st Vice president Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi is aimed at honoring women referees who have a strong work ethic, have knowledge of the rules of the game and are positive role models and will see the winner going home with a cash prize of N25,000.
A team of women football experts and panelist voted based on reports gathered by assessors all around various match centres.
