Prince Julius Adelusi Adeluyi OFR, MNI, who won the National Daily award of excellence is currently the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce. He is the founder and Chairman of JULI PLC (formerly Juli Pharmacy Ltd), which was the first indigenous company in the country to be quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 1986.
He presided as Chairman at the National Daily Awards which held at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, on May 12, 2023.
Prince Adelusi Adeluyi is also the chairman of the MTN Foundation which has expended billions of naira in the last 10 years on education, health, including interventionist economic empowerment programmes for disadvantaged persons and communities.
Prince Adelusi Adeluyi was formerly the Minister of Health and Social Service, as well as past Group Chairman of Oodua Investment Company Ltd, a conglomerate coordinating the economic and cultural legacy of the South Western State of Nigeria. He is a founding Fellow of the Institute of Directors (IoD), Nigeria, after many years of fellowship of IoD in the U.K. He is a fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Management, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria and the West African Pharmaceutical Post Graduate College (FWAPPC).
Prince Julius Adelusi Adeluyi studied Pharmacy at the University of Ife (now the Obafemi Awolowo University); he was a strong participant in student activism. He later studied law at the University of Lagos. In practice of his legal profession, Prince Adelusi-Adeluyi provided pro bono legal support to prisoners and underprivileged persons.
Prince Adelusi Adeluyi received the national awards MFR in 1986 and OFR in 2002.
Prince Adelusi Adeluyi has over the years played leadership roles in diverse social and business organizations across Nigeria. He was Chairman of the Public Affairs and Ethics Committee of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), National President of the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce; he played key role in organizing a State Visit to the USA by the then,
President of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Babangida, for which he received a PRESIDENTIAL letter of appreciation. He also received a letter of commendation from the US Vice President, Dan Quayle.
Prince Adelusi Adeluyi served as National President of the Alumni Association of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, (NIPPS), Kuru, Jos, Plateau State; and is currently a member of the Governing Council of NIPPS, Kuru.
Prince Adelusi Adeluyi is also the national President of the National Council for Population and Environment Activities (NCPEA).
Prince Adelusi Adeluyi, as a highly student activist and youth leader, he was Vice-President for international Affairs of the National Union of Nigerian Students (NUNS). At the international level, he was elected Secretary General of the International Students Conference (ISC) based in Leiden, Holland, by student organizations worldwide at their Annual Conference at Christ Church, New Zealand in 1965.
He built student union organizations in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas, visited over 143 countries and became multilingual.
Prince Adelusi Adeluyi led a 17-nation delegation to Nigeria during the civil war for advocacy and peaceful resolution of the conflict. The delegation visited the war front, including the Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, who in a letter commended Prince Adelusi Adeluyi for youth service to the nation.
Prince Adelusi Adeluyi has played variety and notable leadership roles in private businesses, public agencies and clubs, and made immense contributions to the development of Nigeria.
