Newly married banker shot dead as armed robbers attack a bullion van
Friends and family are mourning Igwe O Igwe, a staff of a new generation bank, who was shot dead when armed robbers attacked a bullion van conveying cash from Aba to Umuahia in Abia State, on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.
It was gathered that the unfortunate incident occurred along Port Harcourt/Enugu highway by Ntigha junction in Isiala Ngwa North LGA of the state.
According to reports, the bullion van was being escorted by six Mobile Policemen attached to 28 PMF Umuahia and Counter Terr@rist Unit Base 4 Aba when it was intercepted by armed robbers.
The armed r@bbers opened fire on the bullion Van, forcing the driver to swerve into the bush where Igwe, a newly married man, was sh@t de@d by the hoodlums.
Confirming the incident in a statement, the State Police Spokesperson, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna said, “During a g#n duel that ensued between the Police escorts and the hoodlums, one of the hoodlums was neutr@lized.
