Nigeria ranked second best in Africa behind Senegal

Nigeria will become the second highest ranked team in Africa and the world, just behind Senegal after the recent rounds of World Cup qualifying matches.
The new ranking is according to an alternative world ranking system for Football, the Eloratings.
Nigeria picked four points against African Champions, Cameroon in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying double header.

The Super Eagles’ performance saw them pick 1660 points, just 36 points short of Senegal’s 1696, who drew both games against Burkina Faso in this month.
Eloratings ranking for African teams as at September 6th, 2017
In its global ranking, Nigeria are ranked 43rd while Senegal are placed in 38th spot.
Eloratings are accumulated over a 12-month period.
Meanwhile, Fifa’s last update on the world ranking system has Nigeria at 38th in the World and 6th in Africa.
The World governing body’s latest update will be issued on September 14.
