Odinga files suit challenging result of Kenya presidential election
A presidential candidate in the recent election in Kenya, Raila Odinga, has filed a suit challenging the result of the recent presidential election won by William Ruto. Counsel to Odinga disclosed on Monday that his client filed an online petition at the country’s top court, rejecting the result of the August 9 presidential election.
According to a member of the legal team of Odinga, Daniel Maanzo, “It has already been sent to them and they will see it soon.
“We have hopes that we have made a good case and will win.” he said.
Another counsel to Odinga, Paul Mwangi, who is also representing, had said that a physical copy of the petition would be filed before the Supreme Court’s 2.00pm (1100 GMT) deadline.
Odinga lost the election to Ruto Wlliam.
