OPay explains how Nigerians can access FG’s N50,000 monthly cash relief
Digital financial services provider OPay has clarified how eligible Nigerians can access the Federal Government’s N50,000 monthly cash relief programme for vulnerable households, warning beneficiaries against falling victim to fraudulent agents and unverified payment channels.
The clarification followed a post by an X user listing USSD codes purportedly linked to accessing the government support scheme.
In a statement posted on its official X account, OPay explained that eligible customers would receive a pop-up notification on the homepage of their mobile application, prompting them to follow the required steps to access the relief.
The company stressed that customers who do not receive the notification are not eligible for the programme through the platform.
“The N50,000 monthly Federal Government cash support is available only to eligible citizens. Eligible customers will see a pop-up notification on their OPay app homepage. Kindly click on the pop-up to proceed with the next steps,” the company stated.
OPay added that it does not determine beneficiaries’ eligibility, advising customers seeking clarification to contact the National Electronic Register of Social Intervention (NERSI) through its designated support line, 07000222222.
The fintech company also warned Nigerians against sharing sensitive banking information or making payments to individuals claiming to facilitate access to the relief.

“OPay will never ask for your PIN or OTP to process a NERSI relief payment. Do not pay any agent or click unverified links,” it cautioned.
The cash relief is structured as a grant of N50,000 per household every month, with beneficiaries selected based on verified records from the National Social Register and national identity databases.
Disbursement is expected to be handled through licensed digital financial service providers, including mobile wallet and banking platforms.
Eligible beneficiaries are to receive SMS notifications requesting their consent before the funds are transferred into their designated bank accounts or mobile wallets.
Other digital financial platforms associated with the programme include:
OPay: 95520#
Moniepoint: *557327#
MoMo PSB: *6710#
ALAT by Wema: 94523# or through the ALAT application.
NairaGram: *72600#
However, OPay’s clarification indicates that the availability of a USSD code does not automatically qualify an individual for the programme.
Nigerians have therefore been advised to rely on official notifications and verified communication channels rather than unsolicited messages, suspicious links or individuals demanding payment to facilitate registration.
