One of the governorship aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress I(APC), Prince Tonye T.J.T Princewill, has commenced consultations across the state to mobilise support for governorship primary election for the APC in the build up to the 2023 general elections.

Princewill, son of the traditional ruler of the Kalabari kingdom has held consultation meeting with local government leaders of both Port Harcourt and Obio Akpor Local Government Areas and other party stalwarts in a series of closed-door meetings. The two local governments represent almost half of the voting strength of the state, which Princewill considers strategic.

Princewill at the end of the meetings disclosed that he consulted with the party leaders before he formally declares for the governorship contest in Rivers State.

He stated: “This whistle stop tour is designed to consult before a declaration is made.

“You can’t put the cart before the horse. I needed to sit and look into the eyes of leaders and have them look into mine, so we can tell each other the truth.

“A declaration that comes after this kind of a process, will stand the test of time. We have discussed all issues under the sun, from internal issues within the LGA, my father the King, how we will build a formidable front for our 2023, the leader Rotimi Amaechi, our commitment to his Presidency and of course, my ambition.
“I’m encouraged on all fronts. They have all spoken very well.”

Prince Tonye Princewill further consulted with chairmen of the 19 wards in Khana Local Government Area, the largest local government in Rivers State, and the mainstream of the Ogoni Kingdom. The aspirant described the meeting as “frank and fruitful.”

Participants at all the meetings gave Princewill their consent and clearance to contest for the Governor of the state.

Princewill indicated that the visit  to all key stakeholders in the party had  continued, and now will be moving to Abuja for the national convention on Saturday.

Princewill commended the ward chairmen for keeping faith with APC; and remaining resolute in their support and loyalty to the party leader in Rivers State and the South-South, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, Dan Amana of Daura Emirate, the Minister of Transportation. Princewill expressed optimism that the future is bright for the APC and its members in Rivers State. He commended their support.
