Security tightened in Abuja as Military imposes roadblock
Commuters were thrown into chaos on Monday morning as a surprise military checkpoint on the Keffi-Abuja expressway triggered massive traffic congestion.
The unexpected roadblock, mounted near the Sani Abacha barracks, brought traffic to a standstill for several hours.
The situation worsened as motorists were caught off guard by the sudden security operation, leading to a traffic snarl that extended several kilometers back to the Nyanya Bridge.
This roadblock caused immense hardship for residents of Nyanya, Karu, Maraba, and Masaka, who faced difficulties getting to their workplaces in Abuja.

The gridlock comes amidst growing tension in the country, with youth groups planning a nationwide protest against economic hardship scheduled to commence on August 1.
While there is no official link between the roadblock checkpoint and the impending protest, the timing has raised eyebrows.
Efforts to reach the military for comments on the operation and its impact on traffic have been unsuccessful.
