In a new video shared on YouTube, the 32-year-old travel vlogger and content creator listed poor power supply, fuel scarcity, and other economic challenges as the reasons he moved from Lagos to Lisbon.
According to him, “The more time I spent in Nigeria, the more I felt trapped. My day-to-day life in Lagos had me focused on solving infrastructural problems — slow internet, searching for fuel to power my generator, and restrictions on my ability to film outside or take a walk to clear my head.
I realized I was spending so much time solving these problems instead of being creative and telling stories. This led me to like my work less day after day, which caused me to feel tired, burnt out and depressed.”
In January 2024, Tayo disclosed that he spent a whopping $150,000 to acquire St. Kitts citizenship because of how weak the Nigerian passport is.

However, speaking in his new video, he said: ‘Even with the immense sacrifice of getting a new passport, all my problems weren’t solved.
Having this new passport was great as it allowed me to travel freely, but only for a limited period. It was like a bandage on an injury that hasn’t fully healed.
Nigeria is located in West Africa, which means that the number of flights out of this region is minimal when compared to places like Europe or the U.S.
Therefore, I had to constantly take multiple flights to reach a single destination, which eventually led to spiraling health problems, with numerous visits to the hospital as my body couldn’t take the immense stress from dealing with my long commute, my stressful life in Lagos, and the general anxiety of feeling tr@pped and having to travel back and forth constantly.”
