Ukraine out of weapons days after US, NATO shipped thousands of defense systems; officials worry over Zelensky’s fresh daily demand
No fewer than 18 days after the US and its NATO allies supplied 17,000 anti-tank missiles and 2000 anti-aircraft missiles, Ukraine has complained of weapon shortage, and its President Zelensky has made another extensive demand on the US.
According to a document provided to CNN, a recent request provided to US lawmakers appears to reflect a growing need for American-made Stinger anti-aircraft missiles and Javelin anti-tank missiles.
Zelenxky now asks for 500 of each, daily.
These are more than were included in a similar list recently provided to US lawmakers, according to a Some US and NATO officials are already pushing back, adding more military aid is already going into the country.
These official reactions belie NATO commitment to help Ukraine defeat Russia by all means, military and economic.
Moreover, Russia has been claiming it is targeting weapons the US and others are shipping to Ukraine.
The Ukraine war is just about a month old, and many believe there is no end in sight yet.
