VDM faults Tinubu, Dangote, others in Phyna’s sister’s death
Nigerian social media commentator, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has launched a scathing criticism against President Bola Tinubu, the Dangote Group, and prominent social media influencers following the death of Ruth Otabor, younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna.
Ruth died on Sunday from injuries sustained in a road accident involving a Dangote truck near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State. The family confirmed her passing through their legal representatives, Eko Solicitors & Advocates.
According to the statement, Ruth had been battling for her life for 19 days under intensive care before she succumbed to her injuries.
Reacting in an Instagram video, VeryDarkMan accused influential Nigerians and institutions of hypocrisy and negligence, arguing that their silence during her critical health battle contributed to the tragic outcome.

“Phyna’s sister has finally kpai. A lot of people are now posting RIP, but when we needed their voices to pressure Dangote to do the right thing, they were silent because it wouldn’t give them engagement.
She spent 19 days in the hospital, and nobody cared. Nigeria has failed us. President Bola Tinubu, you have failed us all. And to Dangote Group, are you happy now? You had the chance to fly that girl abroad for treatment,” he lamented.
His remarks came hours after the Dangote Group issued a condolence message confirming that the company and its insurance partners had been covering all medical and financial expenses since the accident.
The group further disclosed that arrangements had been made to fly Ruth to India for advanced treatment, but her deteriorating condition prevented medical clearance for the trip.
The tragedy has reignited debates on road safety, corporate accountability, and Nigeria’s fragile healthcare system, with many Nigerians calling for stricter regulations on heavy-duty vehicles and improved emergency response services.
