We ‘II not be left behind because of Muslim, Muslim ticket – Plateau APC Chair says
By Kingsley Chukwuka
The Plateau State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Hon. Rufus Bature has said the Plateau APC will not be allowed to be shortchanged because of the same faith Presidential ticket of the Party.
He said the party will also not allow itself to be dragged into religious sentiments because of bigots who do not wish the Party well.
“We said Plateau cannot because of sentiments allow itself to be left behind in the committee of States in the contest for relevance and recognition at the national level”, he said.
Bature stated this Thursday, August 11, 2022, in a statement signed by the State APC Publicity Secretary, Hon. Sylvanus Namang and sent to our correspondent, noting that the Party will not be distracted because of Muslim, Muslim joint party flag bearers.
The APC Chairman made the statement when the National Executive Committee for Bola Ahmed Tinubu paid him a courtesy call in Jos, warning trouble makers who want to use religion to deceive people to steer clear of the party’s internal affairs.
According to the statement: “These detractors only use religion as a cheap tool and for convenience while they don’t put what they preach into practice.
“The same faith ticket by the APC should not dampen our spirit but rather should emboldened us. We must not allow ourselves to be swayed by the sentiments being peddled around but to engage on issue based campaigns”, he said.
Bature said religion is a personal issue between a person and God and hunger does not know religion, saying that while Plateau State vote is important, it cannot change the overall result at the national level and advising that people should come out of their cocoon of religious antics.
He applauded the choice of the Governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong as the Director General of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Campaign Council saying that it will add value to the APC in the State.
“I admonish party members to leverage on this key appointment to disappoint doubting thomases in our midst by delivering Tinubu/Shettima candidates”.
He commended Bola Tinubu for appointing Lalong as the Director General of his campaign, adding that with the development, the party has the capacity to deliver at all levels during the 2023 general elections.
