We’ll defeat APC with my over 20m fans, says Funke Akindele
Nollywood star actress and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deputy governorship candidate in Lagos State, Funke Akindele has told whoever cares to listen that she has the numbers to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 election.
She said; “I have the numbers, I have fans and followers and I’m true to myself. I have more than 20 million fans on social media and also at the grassroots level.”

“I’m here to provide solutions in Lagos. I’m in the system, I’m in pain, and we all know where the shoe pinches us.”
However, reacting to Funke Akindele’s boast, a public analyst, Dr. Eme Okolo Oter, it will be interesting though if she can transform herself to the later version of Elle Woods and give this a good shot, a good account of herself at least for the records.
“She needs to read and read quite a lot in the days ahead. Politics is not showbiz and tweets cannot resolve issues of national importance. Otherwise my position remains that she is a poor representation of women in this country and PDP could have done much better.”
