Why Alonso was booed by Tottenham Hotspurs fans
Chelsea full-back Marcos Alonso continues to endure the ill-treatment from Tottenham Hotspurs fans and yesterday’s match was not an exemption.
The European Champions continue their impressive run of games by thrashing Spurs by 3 goals to nothing, with the trio of Thiago Silva, Ngolo Kante, and Toni Rudiger registering their names on the scoresheet but it was Alonso was caught my attention as the home fans continues to boo him whenever the ball comes his way.
What could have prompt that act from Tottenham Hotspurs fans?
Some years back, Marcos Alonso was involved in a car accident, which led to the death of a young lady and 3 other persons were injured.
However, the defender was charged to court and was banned from driving for over 3 years, he was also slapped with a fine of over €60,000.
The Spanish international has since then being targeted by the Tottenham Hotspurs fans, who continue to use booing as a tool to remind the defender of his ugly past.
However, despite all the boos, chants, and raising of banners to show their displeasure at the defender, he continues to thrive against Spurs.
Alonso has scored over 5 goals against Tottenham Hotspurs and that could be another reason why the fans despise him so much. The former Bolton Wanderers star didn’t score yesterday but he had a hand in Thiago Silva’s first goal of the night.
He was a constant threat to the home team, not just in yesterday’s game but in every game he played against Tottenham.
