CAF Executive committee member Amaju Pinnick has disclosed that African’s football governing body would support any bid from Morocco to host the 2026 World Cup. In the wake of speculation that the country could be priming an attempt to host the competition, the Nigerian is firm that the bid will be supported.

National Daily gathered that the 2026 event is the next one up for grabs, with Russia set to host the 2018 tournament and Qatar named as the host for 2022.

And with the United States, Canada and Mexico already announcing plans to submit a joint bid for 2026, the Nigeria Football Federation boss claimed the north Africans have all it takes to host the world.

“It’s a country that can host the world. They are very hospitable people, there is a good network of roads and have practically everything.’’
“If they want to host the World Cup, Caf will support them hundred percent he continued.

“Morocco has leaders right now who are eager and excited about developing the game, not just in Africa,” Pinnick continued.

“This weekend they are hosting the French Super Cup – between Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco – they’ve hosted the Club World Cup (in 2013 and 2014), they’ve hosted practically everything.”

Morocco failed in their bids to host the 1994, 1998, 2006 and 2010 World Cups, and with Fifa’s rotational hosting policy, it means Africa is one of four confederations that can bid for the 2026 finals.
