How Zamfara bandit cum arms dealer ran criminal enterprise across states
Sani Mamuda aka Shadari kidnaps and deals in arms in Katsina, and he has succeeded in supplying a number of bandit leaders with weapons despite security efforts to stem banditry in the state.
But his foolhardiness undid him recently.
The Katsina State Police Command which paraded him Thursday explained the notoriety of the Shama indigene, Zamfara, within and outside Nigeria.
According to the command PPRO Gambo Isah , Shadari was arrested along Kurfi-Batsari road by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kurfi LGA and his team.
In his audacity, Shadari strapped guns and ammunition to his motorcycles, an headed for Zamfara during sometimes during the week, knowing the highways are under patrol.
“In his possession were two AK 47 rifles, with two magazines loaded with forty two (42) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition of AK 47 rifles concealed beneath the seat of his red colour Boxer motorcycle,” Isah said as he explained leading to Shadari’s arrest.
Also recovered from him were12000 CFA, Niger Republic Currency, forty nine thousand, five hundred Nigeria Naira (N49,500), one Techno handset and two Airtel SIM Cards.
The criminal told newsmen suspect he bought the said rifles at Mashi forest, from one Masa’udu alias “DANBARNO”, and one Abdullahi (now at large) both of Yar-Malamai village in Charanchi LGA of Katsina state.
He also confessed he supplied weapons in the past to Rabe, Lawal, Hamisu, all of Shama village in Birnin Magaji LGA of Zamfara state.
