2018: Osogbo set for City Peace Marathon

Forms for the 2018 Osogbo City Peace Marathon are out for interested Secondary School Students in the state of Osun and beyond,National Daily learnt.
The half marathon earlier fixed for Tuesday August 28, 2018 has been rescheduled for Saturday September 8, 2018 to enable more participants register.
Chairman of the Main Organising Committee (MOC) of the event, Muideen Adeleke, and the Secretary, Yemi Aboderin in a statement, indicates that the road race which is a follow up to the 2017 Osogbo City Half Marathon, is aimed among others; at promoting healthy living among the citizenry; helping to unearth budding sports talents and nurturing them to stardom; assisting to reduce crime rate as well as assisting to attract prospective investors to the state of Osun.
The theme for this year’s edition is; ‘Promoting the spirit of peace and sportsmanship at polls’ more so that governorship election holds in Osun on September 22.
National Daily gathered that the management of Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC), has therefore appealed to well-meaning individuals, establishments, hospitality industry and corporate organizations to assist in giving a platform for the budding sports talents to showcase their talent.
The MOC states that the event will incorporate a walk-to-live for the elderly ones to enhance healthy living among the senior citizens among others.
There will be mouthwatering prizes for Winners in both Male and Female categories, 1st and 2nd runners-up as well as consolatory prizes for participants in the 2018 Osogbo City Peace Marathon
