2023: Jonathan only obstacle standing in Tinubu’s path, northern rep insists
As the north continues to emphasise politics as a game of number, the odds against each of other regions seeking the centre are becoming clearer, and the southwest leads
That is the thinking of some northern politicians, and they are particular about the APC national leader Bola Tinubu.
“The odds first favour the southwest which had populated the APC because five states are under the leadership of the APC. The South-South has Cross River state and the South East has Imo and Ebonyi, said Hon. Musa Sarkin Adar, representing Sokoto in the House of Reps.
He suggested others zone should go and have a new strategy, especially the southeast and south-south which are predominantly PDP.
“You don’t expect when the majority of you are in the other party and you are thinking of getting the presidential candidacy of the political party simply because you are making agitations,’ he said while fielding questions on Arise September 22.
“My take is that Tinubu still remains the frontline presidential aspirant of the APC from the south generally.”
That is if the expected defection of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan doesn’t happen.
“Then, of course if President Jonathan joins the APC, he is going to give Tinubu a good fight,” he said.
Tinubu is still in London recovering after a knee surgery.
While he hasn’t declared his intention, his intention has been somewhat wormed out of his body language as the 2023 general elections approach.
