27-year-old Nigerian-Italian woman maul to death by dogs
A tragic incident occurred on the outskirts of Latina, south of Rome, where a 27-year-old Nigerian-Italian woman, Patricia Masithela, was fatally mauled by a pack of four or five dogs in the garden of a friend’s residence. The horrifying attack took place in the early hours of Monday, January 13, 2025, and has left the community in shock.
According to AnsaEnglish, Patricia had been visiting her friend’s home when the attack happened. Reports indicate that the same group of dogs had attacked another woman and the homeowner just a week earlier, raising questions about why the animals were still roaming freely and potentially posing a danger.
Neighbors were alerted to the tragic event by Patricia’s desperate screams. Recognizing the severity of the situation, they quickly called the police.
Officers from the Latina police station arrived at the scene around 3 a.m. and attempted to disperse the aggressive dogs. To protect themselves and rescue the victim, the officers fired a gunshot, killing one of the dogs and injuring another. The remaining dogs fled the scene.

Patricia was rushed to Santa Maria Goretti Hospital in a desperate attempt to save her life. However, despite the medical team’s best efforts, she succumbed to her injuries a few hours later due to the severity of the wounds inflicted during the attack.
Authorities revealed that Patricia’s friend, the owner of the house where the incident occurred, was not at home at the time. Investigations are now underway to determine the circumstances leading to the attack and to establish accountability. Key questions include why the dogs, which had shown aggressive tendencies in the past, were not restrained or controlled, and whether negligence played a role in this tragic incident.
This devastating event has reignited discussions about public safety and the responsibilities of dog owners in preventing such attacks. As investigations continue, the community mourns the loss of a young woman whose life was tragically cut short.
