6,199 soldiers fighting Boko Haram terrorists promoted by COAS
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, has approved special promotion of 6,199 soldiers serving in Operation Lafiya Dole in the north east.
The soldiers have been engaged in ferocious warfare with Boko Haram insurgents.
The Director Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Sani Usman, disclosed this in Abuja on Tuesday after the COAS gave the approval.
Among those promoted included 329 Staff Sergeants to Warrant Officers, 371 Sergeants to Staff Sergeants, 707 Corporals to Sergeants.

Others include 1,290 Lance Corporals to Corporals, and 3,502 Privates to Lance Corporals.
The COAS congratulated the newly promoted soldiers and urged them to increase the level of dedication to duty especially in the ongoing clearance operations of the Boko Haram terrorists in the North-East.
