8-yr-old testified how father strangulated mother
Oluranti Badejo strangulated his wife, and tried to cover it up using a pressing iron to scald her corpse, an effort to pass off the murder as electrocution.
And the 51 year-old husband could have got away with the murder, but for a witness, Ogun police command’s spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi said.
According to Oyeyemi, police arrested Badejo at 7, Madam Felicia Str., Mowe, on October 12, after his sister-in-law reported the man killer her 40-year-old younger sister Folashade.
Upon the report, the DPO Mowe division, SP Folake Afeniforo, quickly dispatched the divisional detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.
Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect strangled the woman during a scuffle.
While trying to lay a red herring with a pressing iron, their eight-year-old daughter was watching, according to the police.
The girl later testified.
Folashade’s remains have been taken to a mortuary in Sagamu for an autopsy while the homicide department begins full investigation.
