Man United fans deserve results and not apologies from Solskjaer
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer issued an apology to Manchester United fans – and admitted Champions’ League football could be out of reach again.
But one truth that remains obvious is that no amount of apologies can suffice for the fans crave for at the moment, namely radical overturn of the clubs result. Surely, they deserve results and not just apologies.
The United boss saw his side put on another horror show, losing to a goal from teenager midfielder Matty Longstaff goal against a Newcastle side who started the day second bottom.
Solskjaer’s side are winless in five games and he concedes he has to sort out his player’s ailing confidence, and find a “tactical tweak” to get them scoring again.

“I say sorry to the fans that we are not winning games,” the Norwegian said.
Asked what an acceptable finish will be this season for a side who have only won twice in the league and are languishing in 12th, 15 points behind leaders Liverpool, he said: “We have given ourselves a tough task to get in to top four. Never mind top six.
“We need to get results, get momentum I can’t give you what I acceptable. Every game at this club should be a win game.
“We have to raise our game and raise our supporters mood with Liverpool next.
“The game was symptomatic of where we are. We don’t create enough chances to deserve to win a game of football.
“I didn’t see it coming. We couldn’t control the ball, it was a hot potato and bouncing off our feet. Second half it was better.
“Confidence is a big thing. Performance and results give you confidence. When there is a decision to make they don’t do it instinctively. It effects everyone.
“We are unhappy with the result. That brings out the mood of everyone. That is down to us starting a rebuild. We are going through a very difficult period
“When you lack six of the starting XI from the first game, of course that will impact on performances. We will work hard to get them back but the lads who are out there gave everything.
The attitude is fantastic to get back but the decision making was not good enough.
“We gave them too many counter attacks and that lifted them and lifted the crowd and Brucey.”
Asked about Harry Maguire’s missed header in the first half he said: “Harry knows he should have scored. It was a big moment and I have talked about them in the past months. We need to grasp them. We need to clear our heads and get ready for Liverpool. We need to find a solution to our game. A tweak or whatever.”
