The Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday appointed a new Clerk of the House. Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, before the beginning of plenary, announced the appointment of Olalekan Onafeko as Acting Clerk of the State House of Assembly.
National Daily gathered that the Speaker ratified the appointment of Onafeko as Acting Clerk through voice vote by the lawmakers present at the plenary.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) had reported that before his appointment, Onafeko was the Head of Human Resources and Administration in the Assembly. The Deputy Speaker of the House, Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni, had notified the House that the former Clerk retired about one month ago.
Eshinlokun-Sanni was cited to have declared: “We have met many qualified staff and we considered so many qualities such as: competence, desirability and others and we appointed Olalekan Onafeko.’
It was highlighted that the former Clerk of the Assembly, Azeez Sanni, retired from the service after attaining the age of 60. Since the former clerk retirement, the Deputy Clerk, Taiwo Otun, was said to have been acting as the Clerk during plenary before the appointment of Onafeko.
