Osinbajo chairs strategy reduction policy on poverty
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been appointed Chairman of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s committee on Poverty Reduction Strategy in Nigeria. The Federal Executive Council (FEC), had on Wednesday approved the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy policy after acknowledging the deteriorating poverty in Nigeria.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, in a media interaction after the FEC meeting at the State House, Abuja, on Wednesday highlighted that the meeting deliberated on the disturbing poverty situation in the country, before approving to tackle the menace.
Adesina disclosed that Vice President Osinbajo has the mandate to chair the Steering Committee of the policy to provide the overall guidance for implementation.
The SA also disclosed that council approved the strategic incorporation into the medium-term national development plan 2021-2025 and agenda 2050 and directed the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, to prepare a bill for submission to the National Assembly, for the sustainability of the implementation strategy
