Day sharing formula sparks shootout that leaves many rival bandits dead
Two rival kidnapping groups got in a gun duel at Garke village in Giwa LGA of Kaduna Wednesday night, and the fallout was a sort of massacre.
According to sources, Godo Mota, a deady gangleader met with another group in the village to share their spoil from kidnapping.
A disagreement ensued, and according to sources the rivals corked their guns and faced one another.
Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan confirmed the incident, citing local witnesses and security intelligence.
”Intelligence sources had reported that a notorious bandit known as ‘Godon Mota’ stormed Garke village last Wednesday with his gang and clashed with a rival bandit group, leading to the killing of nine members,” he said.
“The cause of the fratricidal face-off is yet unclear but was said to revolve around a disagreement over sharing of accumulated ransoms, during which one of the groups felt cheated”.
Acting Governor Dr Hadiza Balarabe noted the report with thanks and urged security agencies to sustain pressure towards the apprehending of criminal elements in the general area.
“Investigations and security patrols are ongoing,” Aruwan said.
