Flood washes away over 450 homes, kill seven in Yobe communities
Flooding caused by heavy rainfall washed away over 450 homes in several communities in Yobe State. The state government revealed that about seven persons were killed by the ravaging flood.
One Falmata Ali was identified as a victim of the disaster, losing two children who drowned while sleeping.
Some communities devastated by the flood were identified to include: Tandari, Yindiski, Dadin Kowa, Gadan Talaka, Maisandari, Usmanti, Gaurawa, Kasaisa, Abari, and Nayinawa.
All the dead persons were identified as residents of Potiskum Local Government Area (LGA); about 250 households were identified to be displaced by the flood. 
In Nguru Local Government Area, about 249 households were said to be affected; the government was, however, yet to confirm the number of persons or households devastated in communities in Damaturu, Yobe State capital.
The Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs in Yobe, Garba Iliya, was gathered to have disclosed that the state government has directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to assess and respond to the plight of the victims.
