Gunmen abduct PDP chieftain, driver in Edo
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) in Edo State, Chief Dickson Imasogie, has been abducted with his driver.
Imasogie, who is also the leader of the party in Edo South Senatorial District, was reportedly whisked away from his farm in Obada along Benin-Agbor road in Uhumwonde Local Government Area around 7am on Monday.
It was gathered the gunmen shot sporadically to scare away passers-by before making away with the chieftain and his driver.
An impeccable source, who spoke in confidence, said: “Chief Imasogie was kidnapped in his farm around Obada area in Uhunmwonde LGA of Edo State. He was with his driver, whose name could not be ascertained, when the incident happened.”

Efforts to reach Edo Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bello Kontongs, a Superintendent of Police (SP), were not successful as his mobile line remained unavailable.
Edo State Decide Movement, in an online statement, explained: “We have just been informed that our daddy, mentor and a renowned philanthropist, whose philanthropic gesture is indeed exceptional, in person of Sir (Chief) Dickson Imasogie, the Edo South PDP Leader, and others, were kidnapped around 7 a.m. on Monday, on their way to Chief Imasogie’s farm, along Benin-Agbor Road.
“As matter of urgency, we are calling on the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki of PDP, to take drastic actions to rescue the father of all and others from the hands of the hoodlums or kidnappers, who are enemies of progress in our dear Edo State.
