The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, at the plenary of the Lower Chamber of the National Assembly, clarified that he was misquoted in a report on the social uprising and agitations on the southwest and southeast. The Speaker stated that he never compared the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Yoruba Nation agitators with ISWAP and Boko Haram terrorists in northeast Nigeria.
Rt. Hon. Gbajabiamila, at the opening of plenary in the House of Representatives, observed that his comments were misquoted, therefore, absolving himself from public disenchantment against his personality.
The House of Representatives, however, reminded President Muhammadu Buhari on the need to comply with the Federal Character principle in the appointment of Federal Character Commission Chairman, Secretary and others.
The House also mandate mining companies in the country to comply with environmental obligations
The business of House was later heated with the defection of a member, Chisom Dike, from Rivers State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
