Plateau PDP: Again Chris Hassan wins chairmanship
Our correspondent recalls that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party had sacked the Plateau State Executive Committee, led by Chris Hassan, on the 10th of June, 2021.
The party disclosed this in a statement by its National Organising Secretary, retired Col. Austin Akobundu, in Abuja.
Akobundu had said that the NWC also appointed a State Caretaker Committee to oversee the affairs of the State for a period of not more than 90 days with effect from Thursday, June 10th, 2021
The State Caretaker Committee was chaired by Sen. Tunde Ogbeha, with Patrick Ogbu working as Secretary.
The members are Kunsi Ndayako, Michael Dapialong, Pam Davou, Emmanuel Go’ar, Istifanus Mwansat, Mr Ishaku Chuntai, Jacob Adikaba, Akims James and Gregory Yenlong.
Declaring the results, the Returning Officer of the State Congress, Prince Olusola Akanmode said, Chris Hassan, scored 1, 526 votes, while his close rival, Hon. Bitrus Kaze scored 186 votes.
Also, Capt. Bitrus Goleng, who emerged as Deputy Chairman of the party, scored 1, 191 votes to defeat Amos Gombi, a former Deputy Chairman of the party, who got 445 votes.
Among other officials who emerged are Emmanuel Dawam, Secretary of the party, the position of State Women Leader was won by Mrs Martina Dakur.
Others elected are Samaila Abubakar, State Treasurer, Sir John Akans, Publicity Secretary, Yakubu Chocho, State Organising Secretary.
